The BMW S55 is a high-performance 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six petrol engine developed by BMW’s M Division and introduced in 2013.

The engine was heavily based on the standard N55 engine but re-engineered with roughly 75% new or modified components to withstand track use and high power outputs.

It is used exclusively in the following M Performance models:

• BMW M3 F80 (2014–2018)

• BMW M4 F82 Coupe and F83 Convertible (2014–2020), includes base model, competition, CS and the water injected GTS.

• BMW M2 Competition F87 (2018-2021)

• BMW M2 CS F87 (2020)
